2nd Lt Rakesh Singh – Ashok Chakra Awardee

On 5th Dec 1992, 2Lt Rakesh Singh, the Officiating Company Commander of ‘B’ Coy 22 GRENADIERS, was leading a cordon and search operation in Padarpur village, Pulwama Ditsrict of Jammu & Kashmir. Barely 6 months of service, 2/Lt Rakesh Singh found himself in the thick of the action. 2Lt Rakesh Singh displayed the most conspicuous bravery, setting a shining example of loyalty and devotion and was awarded Ashok Chakra Posthumously. In a fierce battle with terrorists, he killed all the militants but was succumbed to his injuries in the action.
