Naik Rambeer Singh Tomar was enrolled in Kumaon Regiment on 28 July 1989 and joined 26RR(KUMAON) on 13 December 2000. On 18 Oct 2001, at about 0745h, Naik Rambeer, volunteered to bean entry man to carry out search of houses in Kako village. He killed four dreaded He was seriously wounded in the conflict with terrorists and was evaeuated on the order of his company commander much a gaint his wishes.

O wing to excersive bleeding, he was succumbed to is injuries. For his conspicuous bravery, inspiring leadership, concern for comrades, exceptional personal valour and raw courage beyond the call of duty, he was awarded with Ashok Chakra (Posthumous).
